We dressed 132 chickens for the freezer during the second round of butchering. The two chest freezers were brimming with a total of about 220 birds.

Two weekends ago we traveled to Guatemala (with the Horsts and Andrea) for a retreat with other Eastern Mennonite Missions workers. Galen and Phyllis Groff organized the event.
Dwain and Zack spent much of the trip to and from Guatemala in the back of the truck. Eight people traveling in a six-passenger truck for a 10-hour ride was an interesting experience.
On the return trip from Guatemala, we visited Copan Ruins, an ancient Mayan civilization.
Steve and Joy VanPelt (from Lyndon Mennonite Church) spent the past few days with us. On Sunday Harlan drove us up a nearby mountain to a “buena vista” (a good lookout point) where we shared a picnic, picked raspberries and relaxed in the quietness of the mountains.
