We had a safe visa renewal trip to and from Belize. Travel included a 3-hour ferry ride on the boat pictured below.
A few hours after returning from Belize, we participated in the 6th-grade graduation here at La Finca. Audrey directed the tone chime group. The choir sang, and a group of children choreographed a song. Here’s a photo of the graduates and teachers.
We were “padrinos” for one of the graduates.
After the program everyone shared in a meal served outside.
Dwain purchased another batch of chicks to raise as meat birds. Butchering will happen just before our return to the States in January. This time around, Dwain turned over basically all responsibility to Javier and Cristofer, two boys who have shown interest in and demonstrated commitment to caring for the previous chickens. The Horsts and Andrea (and her friend, Karen) celebrated Thanksgiving with us on November 27. We savored tastes of Lancaster with chicken, potatoes, cucumber salad, red beet eggs (made by Janelle), baked corn, filling, gravy, sweet potatoes (made by Dwain), apple pie, pumpkin roll (made by Angelica, Ali, Zack, Audrey). Zack donned a Pilgrim outfit with a hat and an oversized pair of white socks pulled up to his knees and held by the elastic in his black exercise pants. We sang “Now Thank We All Our God,” a hymn the Horst children learned in school.
