This week Dwain, Javier and Jimmy transferred some of the chicks from our house to an outdoor moveable pen. After removing the chicks, Javier moved the box which had been their home and noticed a 2-foot snake slither from behind it. With shovels and hoes, Dwain, Javier and Jimmy stationed themselves around the chair the snake had crawled under. They successfully killed the creature and later learned it was not poisonous.
Many newspaper reporters and TV camera people along with other well-known community leaders visited La Finca on Thursday for a special dedication service of the new computer room (located beside our house). HSBC (a bank) sponsored the remodeling project and planned the dedication service and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Two days later we saw ourselves (Dwain, Audrey, Janelle, Harlan, and members of Andrea’s family) pictured alongside a double-spread article in the national paper (La Tribuna).
We enjoyed spending some time with week with Nelson, Judy, Crystal and Alicia Zimmerman (family of Andrea). They arrived last Saturday and plan to return to the States on Monday. Yesterday we visited Picacho National Park with them.

Friday was a celebratory day for the Horst children – the last day of school! We celebrated by walking into Valle and buying ice cream.
